Quite by chance I came across a remarkable "sundial" - there should be
another word for it - in front of the church of St. Eustache near Les Halles
in Paris. It was well worth a visit even if kids were skate-boarding all
over it!

What is remarkable to my mind is that it comprises a number of optical
fibres behind three slits set in a "pillar" for want of a better
description. The optical fibres are laid underneath the pavement and appear
at "timespots" in a wall about three metres away.

If anybody is visiting Paris I commend it as an attraction.

Does anybody have further details or examples of similar constructions to
make up for my woefully inadequate description?

Regards
