Hi All,, Mac: The version I got from amazon.com is:
"Letters Slate Cut" David Kindersley and Lida Lopes Cardozo Taplinger Publishing Co. Inc. New York, New York. Copyright 1981 ISBN 0-8008-4741-5 Tony: Mine shows sundials for figures 28,29,30 and 31. Jack: >I found that the instructions from the book using >a hammer and sculptor's chisel <snip> didn't work very well for me >because the stone would chip slightly rather than letting me etch the >smooth edged V-profiled lines I wanted. Any idea what caused the 'chipping' ? The stone itself maybe? They talked a bit about the first cut creating a 'firebreak' to prevent chipping when you get to actually cutting the 'v' edges, They don't say it explicitly, but It seems we should make this first cut, then cut the 2 sides of the 'V'. Is that how you read it? It is an important point - but it's little unclear from the book.... Chuck
