As an Englishman it's probably unfair of me to say the following, but here goes anyway...
Sooner or later the rest of the world is going to have to come to terms with the fact that English is the international language. Somehow I can't imagine the French teaching their children English as their first language (ditto other European countries), but it would make life so much easier! The other alternative to conducting the competition in English is to pick a language that everyone is equally *un*familiar with - how's about Mongolian?! At least we'd only have to find one judge...
