Attached is an Excel program I created that I believe may be useful
(assuming all my calculations and logic is correct) to those of you who
are interested in horizontal sundials. In the last several months I
have posted many questions to this list and have been given lots of
great advise. I have tried to incorporate everthing into the Hour Angle
spreadsheet program to measure the hour angles (with longitude
correction built in) by simply entering the long and lat coordinates
into the color coded fields. The angle numbers on the far right are to
be measured from the 12:00 line on your dial.

n the Special Day spreadsheet I have tried to provide the X,Y
coordinates for a given pin height that will trace the shadow of the
sun's path for a given date. In the example given pin height is 2.5
inches and the date is April 1. Again only the colored cells need
entering and all the calculations are done automatically. X,Y
coordinates are on the far right and include inches as well for each
hour point. Simply connect the hour points to create the pin's shadow
arc.

While I am sending this file (two spreadsheets) to the list for all to
enjoy I am also hoping that some of you will disect my program an verify
that it does in fact work correctly or provide me with information on
how to improve it and where I goofed. Thanks and I hope some find it
useful.
