Greetings,
Many thanks to those who wrote offering suggestions. Considerable experimentation with some very patient friends has resulted in a solution. If I use the message part of Netscape 4.05 (Communicator) instead of Eudora Lite 1.5.4, my attachments seem go through without mishap. I find Eudora much more user-friendly and will continue to use it for normal email, but will switch to Netscape Communicator when sending attachments other than .gif and .jpg files. I've ordered Eudora Pro 4 - perhaps it does attachments better than Eudora Lite. Again, thanks for all the help.
