This is really rather hard. Loveliest is hard to define where a dial is concerned. It's not just the artistic appearance - at least not for me - it has to be linked to overall appeal and there can surely be no single measure. For me though pride of place would have to go to the so called 'Newton' dial at Queen's College, Cambridge. That's the one that got me interested in dialling in the first place - it is very attractive, very detailed and still has some unanswered questions which gives another dimension to its appeal. Other than that I think the Oughtred Double dials compete for attraction. then there are the Scottish multiple dials - amazing. Ah well, I cannot decide!
