Hi all,
In the NASS's magazine "The Compendium" (for June 1998 Vol: 5 Number: 2)
page 1 has an article called: "A NEW FAMILY OF SUNDIALS WITH CONICAL
GNOMON" by Javier Moreno Bores from Madrid, Spain. This article may not
answer your question but it shows a nice way on how to describe and
understand Italian and Babylonian hours.

Roderick Wall.
