12/18/99 If anyone wants more information regarding the trigonometry problem I submitted a few days ago, email me directly, and I will send the same files that I sent to Fer de Vries. I would send them attach them to this mailing, but I am guessing that only a few people on the list would really be interested in receiving them.
Bill Gottesman, Burlington, VT [Dear Fer, I have attached a .gif stating the problem to be solved, and a compressed wordperfect 7 document which I sent last spring to several mathematicians and astronomers asking for help. The wordperfect file (MATH PROBLEM.ZIP) outlines my approach. The planar problem that I posted to you earlier this week was derived from figure 4. (I hope you can use the wordperfect 7 format. If not I can send the material as a set of .gifs, with the text sent separately, or as a .dxf) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill Gottesman, Burlington, VT Message text written by "fer j. de vries" > Hello Bill, I tried to understand your trig problem but I failed. Can you give some more details what the real problem is? I am also intersted in the spherical way of the problem. Best, Fer.] Fer J. de Vries
