Dear George, It sound as you got an armilliary sphere. On one of the rings hourmarks should be present, but you mentioned there is no mark at all. That's very strange. The arrow ( polestyle ) should point to the north and must have an angle with the ground of 52 degrees, your latitude. Align it with the polestar and it is nearly correct placed. The ring perpendicular to the polestyle should have the hourmarks. Do you also speak Dutch? Than it is easier to mail directly to me for other questions about your dial.
