Yesterday I was driving back from my little farm (19 37 57 S, 45 17 13
W)
back to Brasilia (15 45 15 S, 47 49 58 W) when I started driving up
a mountain. As the widing road went up hill and down hill I had a nice
experiece already referred to in this list, but that time on boats: I
saw several
sunsets.

I think I saw three or four before I came aware of it. That is, all of a
sudden,
I noticed I was watching a sunset when I had already watched a previous
one some seconds ago! From that moment on I started paying attention
to it and, in fact I started seeking for it. I was able to watch two
more
before I lost synchronization.

Having drove these roads tens of times in the past, I may have seen
this before without becaming aware of it. Or, perhaps, this particular
day the sun's azimuth and altitude, the speed of the car, etc.
came together to give me this most unique spectacle.

I also thought something I would like to ask the airplane pilots we have
among
us. Have any of you ever tried to take off immediately after the sunset,

flying straight to the sun's azimuth, trying to see several sunsets in a
raw?

It must be very easy to calculate the airplane horizontal speed and
climbing
speed so as to see as many sunset as you like, isn't it? (provided your
airplane can sustain a certain speed and the climb up to a certain
altitude).
