To Claude Hartman and other people interested.

Images of the sundial of Ibn al Shatir bult in Damascus (1371-1372 - 773
H) can be found:

- in the book of R. Rohr "Sundials, history, theory and practice"
published by the Toronto Press in 1970
There are one photo (1), the reproduction of the different lines (2) and a
detailed description of about 1-2 pags.
The Dover Edition - 1996 - doesn't contain the part concerning the Islamic
sundials.

- in the article "Le Cadran Solaire de la Mosquée Umayyade á Damas" of
Louis Janin published in the magazine Centaurus vol. 16/1971 pags. 285-298
In the article the are the same images that are in the Rhor's book , (1)
and (2), and a drawing of the author. The explanation is very detailed

- in the book "Islamic Mathematical Astronomy" of David A. King - Variorum
1993 : image (2)
The David. A. King's books contain a great lot of informations on Islamic
Astronomy ( and also on Islamic Sundials)

- a book written by me "Appunti per uno studio delle meridiane Islamiche"
(Notes for a study of the Islamic sundials) (150 pags. in Italian).
Besides the two images (1) and (2) there are 3 drawings, obtained from
the original (2), in which I have put in evidence the different types of
hourly lines that are in the sundials . The explanation is detailed.
The book has not been published and I distributes it in photocopy.
It contains also the descriptions of other sundials of the ancient Islam.
