Greetings all, Someone recently asked for details about japanning. As I know nothing about it, I deleted the email. However I have just been browsing Rita Shenton's website, and she has listed a new book on japanning. I have no idea if it covers metal as well as wood, but it may be worth a look. She also has books on enammeling ( ? spelling) and other forms of metal treatment.
BTW, the range of books she sells is amazing. Some really excellent dialling titles (both modern as well as antique classics) I bought a couple from her on a visit to UK a few years ago. They were among the first priority for packing when my house was threatened by bush fires! (Have your credit card handy or eat your heart out when you see some of the titles :-) The japanning book is listed on a bulletin page devoted to new titles, etc: http://www.shentonbooks.demon.co.uk/Bulletin.htm The general URL is http://www.shentonbooks.demon.co.uk/ Cheers from what is now SUNNY Sydney John Dr John Pickard Senior Lecturer, Environmental Planning Graduate School of the Environment Macquarie University, NSW 2109 Australia Phone + 61 2 9850 7981 (work) + 61 2 9482 8647 (home) Fax + 61 2 9850 7972 (work)
