Chuck, Australia is full of war memorials. Many date from WW1 and every country town has a plinth with the names on it. All very sad. Then of course additional panels were added after WW2, Korea and Viet Nam. But very few of these memorials has any real design flair. They are certainly emotional icons, and altho many regard them as glorifying war, I certainly don't.
The one you describe sounds like one of the best I have heard of. Does it have the starkeness and emotional impact of The Wall? John
