Flamsteed provided a great deal of data (lunar observations, ect.) to
Newton and in the earliest editions of Principia was noted as having
done so (this before these two 'great' minds started feuding). As has
been recently mentioned both were engaged in developing a means of
determining longitude via lunar observations. In fact this (the
longitude problem) was to be the chief task of the Astronomer Royal.
