Dear Sundial Friends,
We all know the famous book of Sun-Dials by Mrs. Gatty,
particularly the 4th edition which is jointly written by Horatia Eden
(nee Gatty) and Miss Eleanor Lloyd. I am researching information about
the Gatty family, and have found perhaps too much, but little for
Eleanor Lloyd. She remains somewhat a mystery.
Also I have no information on J. Wigham Richardson who did the
dialling section, except that he put the motto on the dial at Neptune
Works in Newcastle-on-Tyne. (Frank Evans. Maybe you can help here?)
Therefore if any list member can help with further information,
particularly pertaining to these two people, then I would be grateful to
hear from them.
When my research is complete, I hope to write up the details for
a future issue of the BSS Bulletin.
