Dear list members, I am collecting information on the whereabouts of 18th-century Dutch seaman's tobacco boxes with calendrical tables attributed to Pieter Holm (1685/86-1776). I am preparing a paper on this group of tobacco boxes and I would be very grateful for help in filling in a few question marks or to learn of boxes of this type preserved in private or museum collections that I am unaware of.
Further details, an illustration of a typical Pieter Holm tobacco box and a preliminary list of locations of copies known to me can be viewed at: http://www.fys.ruu.nl/~vgent/holmbox/holmbox.htm Thanks to all (My apologies to members of the discussion lists "rete" and "navigation" who may already have seen this posting a few weeks ago) ================================================================ * Robert H. van Gent * Tel/Fax: 00-31-30-2720269 * * Zaagmolenkade 50 * E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] * * 3515 AE Utrecht * Home page (under construction): * * The Netherlands * http://www.fys.ruu.nl/~vgent/ * ================================================================
