Many thanks to those who answered my question on and off the list. Is there a book which describes the slider version of the perforated ring dial? I would like to know how the date scale is usually laid out for this type of perforated ring dial. I have laid out several schemes now, but do not know which is usual or best.
I am also interested in this august body's opinion of the slider. Is it a useful enhancement of the ordinary perforated ring dial? It seems to make the curves of date and time gentler but is it worth it? Thanks, John B 37.72 N 122.07 W PS: And now that I log on to post, I see Charles has something to send me describing the layout of this version of a ring dial. Thank you! Could you send it to my work address, [EMAIL PROTECTED], where I can download a file of that size in 2 or 3 seconds?
