My name is Ross Caldwell. I live in Fresno, California USA - we get around 300 days of sunshine a year, so it would seem to be a perfect place for dialling. I have just now joined this mailing list, having developed an insatiable appetite for gnomonics over the last month or so. So far, I have exhausted the internet resources for sundials, have been studying Waugh's and Rohr's books, and have come up with a few designs I intend to make as soon as possible.
I am eager to meet other gnomonists, since despite our sunshine Fresno has a dearth of both public and private sundials (to my knowledge). Contractors and landscapers I have spoken to say that nobody ever asks for sundials. To the degree that one man is able, I intend to rectify this appalling situation!
I would like to thank the listmaster for starting and maintaining this list - the internet is a miracle of the modern age.
