In the UK we used to have a unit called a "gross" = 144 In a factory where I worked, we still sell cartons containing "half a gross" of items = 72 Not so stupid as it sounds. You can use the same size of carton to pack the units in bundles of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6. Go "half decimal" (50 units) and you can only do 1,2 and 5.
Incidentally, I went recently to my local DIY store to buy some wood. I wanted 2 metres of "4 by 2" (that's 4 inches by 2 inches by the way) I was told I could only get 1.8 metres or 2.2 metres "because that is to the nearest foot" So, were not that decimal yet. And I still can't convert from miles per gallon to litres per 100 kilometres Mike [EMAIL PROTECTED] 53.37N 3.02W Wirral, UK
