Greetings fellow dialists,

Seeking your advice: I'm refurbishing a wall dial I made in 1994 for a
sea front location. The dial is of marine plywood painted white with
black lettering and a brass gnomon. Because of its position, after
painting I gave it a couple coats of varnish to protect it from sea
spray and sand. I used a clear varnish, not yacht varnish. But the
varnish quickly turned yellow. The result was not unpleasant but it was
not the white dial I had planned.

Now the dial needs attention. What varnish should I now use that would
stay clear and be suitable for outside conditions? Suggestions, please.

Thanks in advance. Frank 55N 1W
