Dear Friends,

The NASS Website continues to expand.

The NASS Register of North American Sundials now includes an increasing
number of illustrations and links to external pages for those dials
presented. Please take a look. Readers of this list are encouraged to
send in photos or descriptions of dials in their area. We are trying to
update every dial in the Register and your help is requested.

The Links page also includes many new sites. Two interesting ones have
been added recently:

Under "Featured Sites" is a link to the "The IBM Intellectual Property
Network" where you can search on "sundial" and find over 2 million US
patents that include the word "sundial". Europe and other geographical
areas can be searched and the patent drawings can be viewed.

Under "Miscellany" is a link to a fellow who has invented an ingenious
gadget that uses solar coordinates and a "gnomon" to align a satellite
dish.

A retrospective of our 1999 Conference is available, including abstracts
of the papers presented and the itinerary of the bus tour of sundials in
the Hartford area. All are illustrated.

Finally, I would like to remind you of the NASS Message Board. It has
become quite popular in terms of requests, but less so in terms of
responses. The expertise of the readers of this list would be
appreciated. Please visit the Message Board from time to time and see if
you can contribute.
