What sundials are available which read standard time? I'm an
engineer/CS person and I like stuff that's over designed. I would be
interested in a 'garden variety' unit - as in, to place in a garden.
The following features would be nice:

1. Adjustable for latitude/longitude
2. Adjustable for daylight savings time
3. Direct read in standard time.
4. Probably an equatorial design

The units I am aware of are

- Gunning Heliochronometer
- Sunquest (is there a kit still available?)
- Higgon Equatorial with interchangeable gnomon
- Pilkington & Gibbs, historic
- Wegner (design doesn't appeal to me)
- Swanstrom analemmic gnomon, not a production unit (yet)

I went to Harvey Mudd college, and they had a unit which used
analemmae (sp?) on an essentially 'fat' equatorial with a dot showing
the time. This might be OK too...

I don't have a country mansion but I don't have to buy the cheapest
thing... any suggestions?

Also, are the archives of this list availabe online?

Thanks,

Mike Harding
