Second repeat of message to SML. It might just be that Daniel's jpeg filter cuts out emails with more than one attachment, even if very small, so this time I'll attach Inwards.GIF to this email and Outwards.gif to a parallel message.

This seems to be happening on a regular basis and John Davis reported a similar problem. *************************** Original message Subject: Numan romerals (inside-out R.Ns.) Sent: 7/5/01 8:55 pm To: Sundial Mail List, [email protected] Enclosures: Inwards.GIF Outwards.GIF Fellow Shadow Watchers At the beginning of the thread on orientation of Roman Numerals Bob Terwilliger asked me to send examples to illustrate my point. Attached are two small gifs (only 17k eack) Of course the GIF format has jaggified my posh artwork. Inwards.gif and outwards.gif show identical halves of the same small horizontal dial with the 'problem' numerals in opposite orientation. As you will see the tops of the 'V's cluster rather tightly when read from outside the dial plate whereas in the opposite mode the 'V's radiate outwards rather nicely. As there seems to be a constant demand for this type of dial, which I can delineate to 1/100° of latitude, I'm currently preparing artwork for several variations, mainly to dial furniture and decorative detail, on the same general theme and so I was interested in what others thought on the matter before making a committment. The responses have been most useful. Best Wishes and Thank You. Tony Moss Attachment converted: Macintosh HD:Inwards.GIF (GIFf/8BIM) (00028E76)
