Sundials in Toscany

I've been twice in Italy, in Toscany, looking for sundials. I just found two sundials in Firenze, that is all !! I don't understand this. In Germany around the Mozel, you can see this things on every corner of the street. And in Toscany, whit a lots of sun, you have to surch twice to find two of them. Who can explain this ?
