This is a general answer.
More soon i hope have time to write to each and everyone who wrote me such wonderful an nice words and gave me so good ideas, references and advises!!!

My dear friends (once again sorry my english - i'm able to read and understand quite well but it's a little bit more complicated when i try to put it on the paper... well... on the screen!):

I'm very happy that all of you have something nice to say to a new member.
I was received with such a kindness and joy ... that i'm totally surprised and happy!

I'm 28 years, yeah, but in this case of sundials, i'm really young, just a little baby.
If there are any old people here it's just in the sense of "many years of storage knowledge". Age it's not important in any other sense.

I received so many information that i'm trying to put it all up to date.
Only then i will be able to answer you personally.

Thank you all.
I'm very grate.
I will continue send you my messages and questions. I will share with you what i think it is useful and if you allow me, just a few words to the portuguese members that received me so well and have achieved a high degree in "gnomonic science". So, i will try to share something about Portuguese ("astrognomonical" culture).

Of course i would like to receive new messages. No matter what you think (kind of: "This is so basic he wouldn't.., so i won't send it!). Please do!
I be most delighted if all of you share with me your knowledge, fonts, books, sites, personal sites.
Keep send them to me. All the information are precious.

This is a mailing list of and for young people! This is so, just because childhood is there, when we are happy to do something and we feel happy to share it with other ones.

1) Thank you, once again;
2) Sorry but i will try to answer to all the members who contact me personally, more soon;
3) keep send me information and remember my first mail (where i share my needs): everything matters for a beginner...
4) Thank you:

  • Jorge Ramalho
  • António Lopes
  • John Schilke
  • Robert Terwilliger
  • Frank Di Marzio
  • Roger bailey
  • Patrick Powers
  • Richard Mallett
  • Thierry van Steenberghe
  • J. Tallman
  • Tony Moss
  • Fer J. de Vries
  • Reinhold R. Kriegler
  • Bill Lesley
  • (...)

(Sorry if i forgot someone or if i wrote some names in a wrong way. The order in the list is arbitrary, of course!!!).

I'm going out, to a conference that starts at 4 P. M. about a matter / theory that is being developed by a portuguese scientist that states that in the past, light have traveled faster than today! Yes!

Thank you all
Hope receive news soon

I will be able to read my mails only tomorrow
'till there!

Sincerely
RUI FARINHA
