My first instinct would have been to recommend a thickish layer of 
silicone but this looks like a fine hi-tech alternative for the future.

Before now I've used similar tapes to fix thin/irregular items to a 
milling machine table where clamping would incur distortion although my 
double-sided tapes were by 'Tesa'.  Light cuts, mechanical endstops and 
great care must be exercised of course.
