Fellow Shadow Watchers,
Following publication of my series of JPEGs on
making three Schmoyer 'Sunquest' dials and publication of Mike Shaw's
photographs of one of them by Bob Terwilliger on the NASS website I had a
number of emails from owners of casting sets and others enquiring about a
similar service. In all cases I had to reluctantly decline as the
multiple processes involved were very time consuming and not easy to fit
in with other contracts.
Following the latest request it did occur to me that one of the most
difficult processes to perform by hand - the initial facing of the mating
surfaces of the Latitude half-crescents - is relatively simple by machine
- when you know how ;-). Once the latitude crescent is assembled
accurately the remaining processes are more tedious than difficult,
especially if you have my series of JPEGs as a guide. N.B. The entire
set are viewable via the NASS website.
At the risk of condemnation for making commercial announcements -
although we've had some lengthy ones in the recent past without comment -
could I invite enquiries off list about this service. I must add however
that delivery cannot be expected before mid 2002.
Best Wishes
Tony Moss
