Fellow Dialists:

Thomas Jefferson, a Renaissance man who became the third President
of the United States almost exactly 200 years ago, was himself a
practitioner of the gnomonic arts.  Sadly, though, the sundial he
designed for his renowned Virginia mansion, known as Monticello,
had long since disappeared.

But I'm pleased to report that Jefferson's sundial has recently been
re-created, and it now graces the north terrace of Monticello.  The
following URLs contain the details; the first is from the Monticello
website, the second from a newspaper article in the Richmond (Virginia)
