Hi Helmut,

Thanks for posting the revised spreadsheet. You have made great improvements
to it. I have found the following changes in the revision.

Multilingual: You have added the option of English or German versions. This
is not just a translation of the headings but it involves changes deep in
the formulae to account for the differences in the English and German
versions of Excel.

Error Trapping: Your complex conditional statements resolve the trig
ambiguities to give the correct plot of the declination lines for different
values of latitude and declination. The lines no longer go loopy with out of
range parameters.

Declination and EoT: These are now determined using more accurate
calculations than the simple first order terms that I had used. The date can
now be entered directly and the declination line charted based on the
declination derived for that date. A good chart of the analemma, EoT vs.
Declination, is now provided.

Zodiac Chart: I plotted an analemma as a noon mark correction. This is
confusing and can be misinterpreted. You have added a plot of the typical
month boxes to establish where to stand on the zodiac. This is much more
useful for construction of most analemmatic dials.

Sunrise Seasonal Marker: You have added this feature, plotting the position
and azimuth lines for a base declination. You use the minimum error
declination 20.2 that you derived earlier. I prefer the solstice positions.
I will provide more on this latter. The option for basing marker on any
date/declination is now offered so anyone can determine the effect.

There are many other improvements to the format and plotting too numerous to
outline here.

Revising someone else's work and fuzzy logic is never easy. Thank you for
your efforts in understanding this spreadsheet and providing these
revisions. It has been a good collaboration. I recommend that anyone who has
had problems using the original version try this revision and provide
comments.

Subject: Spreadsheet for analemmatic sundials

Hi to Everybody,

some time ago Roger Bailey designed an Excel-spreadsheet for analemmatic
sundials. I think, it was a presentation for the NASS-meeting at Hartford.
I made some changes and added some features. For those who are interested,
please download the extended version ANALEMM.zip from my homepage
http://webland.lion.cc/vorarlberg/280000/sonne.htm
(offered with permission by Roger).

Hints at errors or any suggestions would be appreciated!
