John Carmichael, who is hosting this year's NASS conference in Tucson AZ (Sept. 26-29), is offering a unique opportunity for a group of 5 people.  At previous conferences, many dialists expressed an interest in seeing John's stone working techniques up close and personal.  At this conference in September, everyone will get to visit and tour his studio, but he is also offering a free workshop for 5 people the day after the conference (Monday Sept. 30).

Workshop participants will go to John's studio to learn how to make stone dials.  They will get hands-on experience covering all of the techniques he uses in his stone cutting.

The Monday workshop will run from 9:00 am till 2:00 pm.  Be sure to bring old work clothes (and reading glasses if you need them for close up work); John will provide lunch. His studio is 1/2 hour from the airport and 20 minutes from The Marriott.   For those who need to make travel connections, John will help arrange transportation back to hotel or airport.

The workshop is open ONLY TO THE FIRST 5 PEOPLE who apply.  You must also be a conference attendee to participate in the workshop.  If you would like to apply, be one of the first 5 people to notify Fred Sawyer of your interest at [EMAIL PROTECTED].  Please be certain that you can commit to attending (conference registration info will come out with the June Compendium), since we don't want to tie up a spot for someone who is not certain he or she will be able to come.

This is a great opportunity and it is being offered first through the Sundial List.  Make haste!

Fred Sawyer
