Hi All,

In my previous e-mail I noted "a clear-cut case of plagiarism which I saw in
the latest issue of the NASS Compendium". This might have been be mistaken
as if some item in The Compendium was plagiarized. If that is the case, I
apologize for my poor usage of the English language. What I intended to say
is, that the Sightings section of the Compendium showed a picture of a
public sundial that, in my opinion, is plagiarized from the large Henry
Moore sundials. The sundial, not the picture, to be sure.

This mail gives me the opportunity to share a striking case of synchronism.
When I got home last night after posting the previous e-mail, I found the
bulletin "Zonnetijdingen" of the Flemish Sundial Society in my
snail-mailbox. It had an article by M. Jooris about the Moore sundial at IBM
in La Hulpe! Jooris happened to address my question of how and when the dial
found its way from the Times headquarters in London to IBM in La Hulpe. It
appeared that Times sold it to the Observer, I guess together with the
building. Later on, IBM bought the dial from an art dealer in London.

Regards,
Frans Maes
