Hi all,

The pole-style sundial at the Stephansdom in Vienna is - as we believe -
only the oldest pole-style sundial of Austria, but not of Europe. It dates
from 1554. There exist of course older pole-style sundials in other parts of
Europe! And we also know, that already about 100 years earlier a sudial
could be found at the Stephansdom in Vienna, probably made by Peuerbach.

Because this existing sundial from 1554 at the Stephansdom is the first of
its type here in Austria, we in the Austrian Sundial Society (GSA) use it
as our logo.
