Hi Jim,

I'm kind of rusty on the subject, and was hoping to be flooded with some
current
data, but the responses so far have been weak.
Well, I had read the book many years ago and tried a number of experiments. My
notes, on the computer, died a couple of computer crashes ago. I still have
some
hand written notes, but they are currently in storage. I'll dig them out. In
the
mean time I looked around on the net and found a few references.
http://www.ferrocement.net/archives/msg10857.html for instance has some notes
by
Davidovits himself, and a lot of ornamental casting info appears on
http://www.makersgallery.com/concrete/howto.html and connected pages. Pretty
thrilling to think about, some of it.

Thanks for your response!

Edley.

Hi Edley,

I was very interested in your last posting to the SML, dealing with the
book about cast stone. I have experimented in that area and was
interested to learn a bit more about the book that you mentioned.

Could you shed a bit more light on some of the formulas that you
mentioned? Which ones did you try and how did they work out?

I have come up with a special mix of concrete (although by strict
definition I could probably call it "cast stone" since it contains crushed
stone particles which are "reconstituted" - held together in a portland
matrix) for the base of my Spectra sundial. I am currently working on
some new projects that could also benefit from any special mixes you could
point me toward.

I am familiar with the subject and look forward to hearing more...I would
like to try a few of them myself!
