My husband Hugo Maier
collected for more than 40 years Black Forest clocks in his hometown
Furtwangen in Germany, where also the German Clock Museum is located. After he
had made the decision to sell the collection this spring and to start the
professional contacting, he all of the sudden died in August, 2002 and left
our family with his plans he could not finish.
Overall the collection
accounts for about 250 clocks. It contains 29 wooden wheeled clocks between
1720 to 1840, 61 lacquer plated clocks before 1860, 24 porcelain plated clocks
and numerous specialties like a large dulcimer clock (Neustadt/Germany about
1800), two pipe clocks (1800-1820), one Carillion dated 1860, figure clocks, rolling
eyes clocks, Jockele and numerous signed clocks from known Black forest clock
makers. The collection does not have any doublets. As my father was interested
in an overall Black Forest picture, the clock collection is accompanied with
numerous pieces of glassware, porcelain, glass paintings as well as drawings
and prints from the time.
In case of further
questions please don't hesitate to contact us or www.zeller.de.
Sincerely,
Gretel Blenk-Maier
