Dear Sirs,

I was amazed and delighted to discover your website about stained glass
sundials. I knew of a just couple of the ones that you showed in your
gallery and despite living in York didn't even know of two of the ones you
show here.

The Cupid and the Four Seasons Dial which you show is now in the entrance to
York Art Gallery. It is sadly in a dark corner and back lit with electric
unmoving light so has no chance to shine.

Over the past year thinking that i was the only person to know of stained
glass sundials became determined to make one. The stained glass artists in
Edinburgh i talked to simply looked at me with incredulity. Because they
couldn't conceive how it would be done not least about the gnomon glass
fixing they were loath to take it on. The solution was taking a stained
glass making course and making one myself. It lacks the skill and finesse
of the ones you show and I had to base much of the design around my
improvised gnomon. However, it's a start. I'll send you a photograph for
your amusement as soon as the sun comes out for me to take one.

What made you interested in such dials and how did you find so many? Are
you based in the US? Have you made or commisioned any yourself?

Yours sincerely

Ian Hayton
