Dear Friends,
I have just been informed that there is to be a Gatty Festival in early March at Ecclesfield, near Sheffield.  The Gatty family are still well respected and remembered in Ecclesfield and this Festival commemorates the 100th anniversary of Alfred Gatty's death.

I have received a letter inviting us all to the festivities which include an exhibition, a lecture 'The Remarkable Gatty Family of Ecclesfield', a play 'The Gattylogue' and the launch of a new book about the family by Prof. Mel Jones, a local historian.

I can't promise that there will be much to be seen of sundials but if you have not yet been on a pilgrimage to Ecclesfield, then March may be the time to do so.  There are many interesting Gatty artefacts around including Margaret's grave, but unfortunately, the famous sundial in front of the church was removed from its pillar some years back.

Full details of the Programme and more have been placed on the BSS Website at www.sundialsoc.org.uk

I hope to be able to meet a few of you there.

Regards,
Mike Cowham
