Hello Peter (and others):

I LOVE the photos! Especially because the website does not have many "modern
looking" stained glass sundials.  We will surely use some or most of them.
Thank you so much for sending them.  Dave and I are quite busy at the
moment, but I promise that I'll get them posted soon.

I hope you don't mind me giving you (and the guys on the List) a little un-asked-for
photographic advise though.

I personally think that most stained glass looks better when
there is nothing behind them but sky. An overcast sky will show the true
colors of the glass the best, but is bad for glass sundials!  In fact, it's
very disappointing that on the majority of the photos in the website
collection, we see no gnomon shadow at all, either because it was cloudy or
because the gnomon is missing.  A blue sky is ok and clouds may even help to
may the picture more artistic.  But, trees, buildings, power poles etc. are
usually nothing but distractions and they will affect the true brilliant
colors of the glass. (There are exceptions to this though.  For example, I love the
garden scene behind Dial 26 and the village scene behind Dial 5)

So if you ever take any more photos, try to place the dials higher up (Like Jim did in his photo
of his Spectra Dial) and place camera in such a way that there's a lot of sky
showing behind the dial and not a lot of eye clutter.

Even so, your photos are very nice and we're happy to get them!  And I think the modern
stained glass artists will relate to them.

Thanks so much for the additions to our collection,

John
