In addition to the Vitruvius on my site (Book 10 for clepsydra, Book 9 for sundials) and the other links on Mario's page (by the way, Latin Library's Censorinus is, as they acknowledge, a copy of mine, except that it has removed! the Greek, the local links and the French translation -- if you need to go to a specific passage, you're better off using mine of course), there is a fairly good general article in Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities giving many other identical references to ancient source texts. One of the reasons I didn't realize this was the kind of material looked for is that "Horologium" is among the links on our own Daniel Roth's sundial links page.
