Strictly, that means "houses", as in astrological houses. In an astrological chart, there are 12 of them alright, but (depending on which system of house division is used, i.e., which method of projecting the ecliptic onto the horizon) that would be equivalent to 2 hours, or less, or more.... Mario since you say it appears only once, might it be a misunderstanding on the part of the 12th-century writer??
