I am the author of the sundial educational PowerPoint presentation on
the NASS mini-CD. Bob Kellogg is the author of the sundial-drawing
PowerPoint slide shows. Our shows are grouped in two separate folders on
the CD; as sent by NASS, the mini-CD will not autorun when placed in
your CDROM player.
My presentation, "Sundials: Prehistory to the Digital Age," is a special
form of a PowerPoint slide show that does not require that your PC
computer have PowerPoint installed. Please read the Adobe Acrobat
README.pdf file in my folder on that CD for information about using the
presentation. Use your File Manager (Windows Explorer for PC computers)
to look at the file names and to start the presentation in my folder on
the CD.
In short, just run the SundialEdu_040727.exe file and it will start the
slide show.
If you have an Apple computer, use the SundialEdu_040727.pdf file.
Bob Kellogg's individual sundial-drawing shows all require that you have
PowerPoint; just open them from the PowerPoint File|Open menu.
The mini-CD will work in your usual CDROM player just fine.
David, is this sufficient information for you?
I have received numerous comments from recent recipients of this
mini-CD. My sundial educational presentation is my gift to the dialing
community and you are welcome to distribute this folder (please do
distribute the entire folder) to anyone who might use it
(non-commercially) for discussing sundials with general audiences.
The README.pdf file describes the goals and usage of my presentation;
the primary purpose is to provide a "ready-to-go" presentation on the
history, science and art of sundials. Note that there is a pdf file of
Presenter Notes in my folder; these Notes will be helpful to prepare for
showing the presentation to groups.
I hope you all find this presentation useful. I welcome comments and I
am especially interested in hearing any questions or comments from
audiences.
