Hello John
(cc. Andrew & Patrick)

I believe this Henley Hall is in Shropshire. Because in Behrendt's article "Alte englishe Fenstersonnenufhren (II)" he says it's there. (SEE ARTICLE PHOTOCOPY page 187 HERE: http://advanceassociates.com/Sundials/Stained_Glass/sundials_files/Alte_Englische_Fenstersonnenuhren_II_1990_article.pdf

On the right side table, on the same page, you'll see he places it at 53.0 degrees North  (Is that near Shropshire?)

In the same article, on page 184 is the same photo that I have that Chris took.  On page 183, the last paragraph describes the dial in German.  I do not have a translation of this so I don't know what it says.  (By the way there is a lengthy description of the Litchfield dial in the last paragraph of page 185, but I don't have a translation of that either.  I'd love to find out what it says).

Chris Daniel is the only dialing person I know of that has actually seen the dial (except for Behrendt).  If you could contact Chris, I'm sure he'll know which Henley Hall it's in.  (I can't reach him because he doesn't answer my emails).

Good Luck,

John

Hi John

I've looked at my OS map for Henley in Suffolk and cannot find a Hall!  Neither is it mentioned in Arthur Mee's "Suffolk" or in a book of Suffolk architecture.  Are you sure that the location is correct?  There are several other Henleys in the UK, and about 300 Halls in Suffolk alone.   Any guidance gratefully received....

Regards,

John
