Subject: I found Kahn! (I think) Hello Rudolph: (cc Sundial List)
A Lycos search turned up a website for Iwan Kahn!
(Oddly, a Google search did not show it). I have translated his website
using a computer website translator and I am sure this is the same Iwan Kahn who
designed the dials on the 3rd Behrendt SGS videotape. Unfortunately, there
are no good photographs on his website showing his series of beautiful stained
glass sundials. There are photos however showing his glass cylinder
table-top dials. He was quite an engineer.
The website says it was last updated in 2002, and he looks
very old on his photos, so he may be dead.
Could you please try to contact him at one of these places
listed in his website? I would do it but as you know I don't speak
German. Would you tell him about the SGS website at www.stainedglasssundials.com and
our efforts to document and photograph his sundial windows. I think he
will be pleased.
Would you also ask him the following
questions:
1. Can he send us any good photos of his stained glass
sundials?
2. Besides designing them, did he paint and assemble his
sundial windows? If not, what is the artist's name?
3. Where were the sundials' original locations (where
were they made)
4. Where are they now?
5. Is Mr. Kahn Swiss or German?
If he answers your email we can assume that he's not
dead!
Here is his contact information from his
website:
