Hello Dialists:
If anybody would like to see photos of my new
"Dog Dial" let me know off-list and I'll send you a couple of med size
Jpegs.
It went to a client in Indianapolis who has a
Labrador Retriever named "Shadow". It's carved into Picturerock
sandstone (26" in diameter) with gold-plated brass fittings in a time
ribbon, and it has an extra thick stone gnomon (1.75"). It's longitude
corrected, shows apparent solar noon, and the time and direction of sunrise and
sunset on the solstices. Note the three "style shifts" like at Kitt
Peak. Styles shift when the sun's azimuth is East, South and West.
These style shifts really visibly affect the design when the gnomon is
thick.
