Please excuse all my emails today, but all these little topics have come up.

BSS members David Brown and Peter Walker have just completed the design,
construction and installation of a new gnomon for the famous Marlborough
Dial by John Oliver located at the Merchant's House, Marlborough, Wiltshire
England. David and Peter are shy so I'm letting you all know what a great
job they did. This old dial hasn't worked since the mid 1800's when it was
struck by lightening and lost its gnomon. Thanks David & Peter from all of
us!

David sent me good new photos of both the exterior and interior and an
article and original drawing of the dial by Gatty.

You can see it and read about it in the Image Archive page/ SGS 17th
Century/ Dial 19 at www.stainedglasssundials.com

By the way, per a good suggestion by Jim Tallman, Dave Bell & I have made
the SGS site more user-friendly for people with slow internet connections.
We have subdivided the large Image Archive and The Technical Information
pages into smaller subpages so that the download times of these pages is
quicker with no download glitches. Also, the way we have it now, you can go
directly to those sections that interest you, rather than waiting for the
whole page to download. Thanks Jim!
