Dear Mario, Robert, Carl and Sundiallers everywhere,
Thanks for the suggestions of where to find the pictures of these early dials.  I have seen several over the years but have a strange feeling that these dials are not really as old as they appear to be - but don't know how to prove it.  Something tells me that they appeared in the 19th century or even later.  Does anyone else have any feelings about this?  Even the British Museum question their dial's age.
Regards,
Mike Cowham.

maybe could be of some interest for Mike or others. I found this page
http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/epact/catalogue.asp?enumber=77593&searchtext=sundial
looking on the very interesting web site of EPACT, the sundial is kept in
the British Museum, but it is Austrian and it is very similar to the one
kept in Innsbruk, but is late dated 1453... only two years late.

Please notice the web page :

The page includes a text about the folding dial of Georg Peuerbach in the Kaiser Maximilian Museum in Innsbruck.
Unfortunately, the text is only in German.
