A sundial made of ice - a fascinating idea! Specially seen from almost 70 degrees north. I have not heard of any sundial made of ice, only hotels and sculptures made of only ice and/or snow, but I see a potential for a project… It is to late this year, but it would be nice to welcome the sun with a sundial made of sow and ice when it returns in January after 2 months of absence! And there is still 2 or 3 months left this winter to practice making snow and ice sundials :-)

Here you’ll find a temporal sundial made partial of ice in the Nevada desert (!): http://www.whatiamupto.com/TemporalDecomposition/index.html

Subject: Curiosity Dept: Ice sundial

Dear All,

Yesterday I was looking at the nice sharp shadow of an ice scupture about 3 foot high and I realised that it would be possible to make a sundial out of ice!  Does anyone know if this has been done and are there any photos on the web?

Thanks
David
