I recently did an experiment with time-lapse photography of a gnomon's shadow throughout a full day using an ordinary Web Cam and some software I use on my weather site.

Some of you will recognize the gnomon as the one used on my Hot Tub Dial. I do not present this as a work of art, or even a sundial (there are no numerals). The images have occasional glare problems, and my backyard has suffered from less than an inch of rain since the first of the year.

I do think this sort of presentation would be an interesting and perhaps useful way to demonstrate a particular dial, especially a complicated one. The result can be put on the internet or kept offline on a computer near the dial. If anybody is interested in making a similar loop, I can coach you on acquiring the images and provide the _javascript_ that runs them.

The silver sphere is just for fun.
