Hello David:
Have you thought about offering a more complete
product/service to non-dialists and the general public by supplying both the
cupola and sundials? I wonder if there's a market.
I think I have visited every cupola website
there is and nobody offers a fiberglass version. The only materials that are
offered are vinyl (less expensive) and wood (more expensive). The
woods of preference seem to be cedar, mahogany, and redwood. The
cheaper wooden ones are made from white
pine. Most have copper roofs, but some have shingles.
And most have fittings for weathervanes.
You will be able to get many good ideas on
different designs and sizes that are available on these websites and
what cupola makers charge for them. Just Google
"cupolas".
Let us know if you make one!
Good luck,
John
p.s. I would never buy a vinyl cupola or
anything else made of vinyl for outdoor use. You should see how the sun
destroys vinyl house siding and car roofs here in the desert!
