I'm not 100% surprised. It did seem odd that something so unlike anything
else ever found, as far as I'm aware, should emerge in such shady
circumstances.
But the article makes clear that experts are divided, so the debate should
be fascinating. And, as Karl Hofbauer pointed out at the conference, there
are certainly literary references to the Pleiades going back to 700BC, if
not the 1600BC claimed for the disk.
