If you are looking for a really useful 'budget' gift for
a sundiallist you may be interested in new range of 'sundial hourline templets'
from the Lindisfarne Presse which allow the user to
1. Check the calibration of any horizontal dial to determine its intended
latitude
2. Design an accurate horizontal dial without any calculation.
At the time of writing these are available in 1/2° steps from 40° to 60°
latitude although custom/bespoke versions for any specific area can be produced
on request to a high level of accuracy.
Each unit contains e.g. a 55° and a 55.5° templet on an A4 sheet of high
quality paper, heat-laminated both sides, to be cut to shape by the user as
required. The hour and minute lines are laser printed, spaced at 3 minute
(time) intervals and colour coded for ease of use. They are available
individually or in sets.
